About One Economy
One Economy Corporation is a global nonprofit organization that uses innovative approaches to deliver the power of technology and information to low-income people, giving them valuable tools for building better lives.
Through our “Community Knowledge Centers” model, we provide technology-focused programs and services that address issues of community development.
In Kenya, we have worked with Cisco to create the Kenya Beehive (http://kenya.thebeehive.org), a community portal that gives local people access to information and resources on agriculture, financial management, jobs, education, health, and government issues. We are also working to start “Community Connectors” youth training programs, where we will train young people in technology and leadership skills with the goal of facilitating technology adoption throughout their communities.
Our mission is to maximize the potential of technology to help low-income people improve their lives and enter the economic mainstream.
